Register of Deeds

The Register of Deeds is legal custodian of and responsible for recording, indexing, storing and preserving County birth, death and marriage records, veteran discharges, notary public records, subdivision maps, condominium plans and all land related documents such as deeds, deeds of trust, agreements and many other types. After recording, the documents are considered public record and made available to the public in compliance with NC General Statutes by which this office is governed. The Register of Deeds office is a self-supporting fee based office.
